Dear Friends,
Included below is some excellent information for improving your diet
and eliminating some common foods that cause problems. This information
was supplied by Laura Philemonof, who has helped many people with MG with
her nutritional plan. It is a very detailed list of foods to avoid and
others to switch to or include in your diet. Approach this in a gentle
manner and do not be overwhelmed.
Avoid:
Alcohol
Artificial Sweeteners: Sweet and Low; Equal
Eat Stevia, herbal sugar or date sugar or avoid all
All caffeine including coffee, pop, chocolate
Avoid all 'diet' foods; eat less of the real thing
Avoid the hydrogenated oils which is toxic to your body
and which is indicated by the 'low fat' words; they are not better
All condiments made with vinegar
All dairy including cheese, yogurt, ice cream, milk, creams
If you must have butter, DO NOT use margarine, use butter
hydrogenated oils in margarine
Drink WESTSOY vanilla Soy or Rice Drink; good
All eggs in the supermarket
Eat range fed eggs without animal proteins
and hormones
All Food
dyes in candy, kool-aid, Tang, punch, cookies, ice cream, MM's, etc.
Avoid these Fruits and try to stick with the berries as much as possible:
Melons like peach, cantaloupe, watermelon especially during the winter
Coconut, Grapefruit, Lemons, (Citric fruits), Tomatoes, Strawberries,
Pineapple. Lots of reasons like genetically altered or inflame joints
or
just respond (-) to MG'ers
Eat Fugi
or Pear apples, unsweetened, natural applesauce,
bananas, apricots, blueberries, blackberries, cherries (great for joints)
cranberries, dates, red grapes, kiwi (yes) , mango's, pears, plus, raisins,
raspberries
GARLIC
IS GREAT
Avoid:
barley, buckwheat, wheat (read labels, as wheat is in many foods items)
oats, no corn in veggie's, fresh or canned, corn syrups, popcorn, etc
Use instead but only if you crave breads: later you may add a little when
you are better
Amaranth flour, millet, quinoa, brown rice (not white), spelt,
Ezekiel bread (sprouted grains)
Avoid:
Garbanzo, ALL LENTILS, kidney, lima, and pinto beans, and split peas
Eat Anasazi, Adsuki, Black, Red (for kidney), and navy beans
Avoid:
Corn Beef, smoked meats, bottom fish shellfish, lunch meats (nitrates)
Pork including Ham and Turkey
Eat lean beef, hormone and chemical free
Fish, cold-water
Veal, Rabbit, Venison, Lamb
Avoid
All Nuts if trouble with digestion, if not; avoid only:
Brazil, Pecans, Peanuts, Poppy, Pistachio, Pumpkin, Sunflower
Eat almonds, cashews, pine, sesame, soy, or walnuts
Avoid:
Canola, Corn, Safflower, and Vegetable Oils
Eat flaxseed and virgin olive oils only
Avoid:
Table salt
Eat sea salt which has not been over processed, so it is not sodium chloride
Avoid:
ALL SOAPS AND PERFUMES
Use sea salt crystal or a natural type for deodorant
Hydrogen Peroxide 3% for cleaning floors and bathroom
3/4 cup Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 4T sea salt for washing
clothes
natural soaps for bathing without chemicals
toothpaste without flouride Tom's of Maine: some still have lots of other
toxic ingredients; read the label
use natural shampoo's
forget the dye if you use it at least for a while
Avoid:
Boxed or Ready-To-Go Soups
Eat homemade bean soups, vegetable soups, etc.
Health Valley has no salt, no MSG, no preservatives
Avoid:
Soy sauce, A-1 sauce, etc
Eat Mustard Only
Avoid:
Baking Powder Use Arrowroot
Bay Leaves Use Basil and Parsley
Cinnamon Use Nutmeg, cloves (restrict)
CornStarch Use Arrowroot
Curry Use Natural Chicken sauce
Paprika Avoid
NO PEPPER OR SAGE OF ANY KIND
Artificial Vanilla Real Vanilla
Avoid:
Black Tea Herbal Tea's; read for caffeine
Avoid:
Corn, mushrooms, peppers, white potatoes, pumpkin,
tomatoes
Eat every other vegetable there is; red potatoes are
the most nutritious and have smaller amounts of
salinese acid to inflame the joint tissue
USE ONLY PURIFIED AND OXYGENATED (if you can get it) from WATER treatment
places. There is Dasani at the grocery store and some Safeway brands are
purifed and oxygenated. You should drink 1 gallon a day, so purchasing
it from a store may be temporary because of cost.
